Established in 1734, Conway, South Carolina is one of the oldest and most historic towns in South Carolina.  What is now known as Conway was originally a part of Royal Governor Robert Johnson’s Township Scene, which was laid out on a river bluff that is now the center of Horry County-a county named after General Peter Horry as he along with the help of patriotic citizens stood alone from King George and his campaign in 1801.  Numerous area residents fought in the American Revolution including the infamous and famous Francis “Swamp Fox” Marion. 

Though Conway, South Carolina is full of rich important history, the town has now grown into a family oriented and flourishing city.  Conway, a great town for any family to settle down in, possesses 7 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and three higher education centers including Horry Georgetown Technical College, North American Institute of Aviation, and it’s nationally recognized Coastal Carolina University.  As of a census conducted in 2000, Conway’s population is 11,788, which are compromised of 4,529 households and 2,942 families as permanent residents. 

Conway is a prime location for any resident, the family oriented town is only 15 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and always entertaining Myrtle Beach!  You can also get your fixing for entertainment within Conway’s city limits.  Conway is home to Main Street USA, a project completed in the 1980’s containing numerous shops and bistros.  The main attraction of Main Street USA is the Riverwalk, a stretch of fine dining & cuisine right on the historic Waccamaw River.
